#DoneIt with Jennifer Trethewey

Prior to my romance writing career, I worked in theater. Largely professional regional theater in Wisconsin. It was there I got a taste for storytelling.

I was a dancer…

Peter Pan—I’m the Mohawk on the bottom.

an actress…

Just of few of the plays in which I had the privilege of sharing the stage.

a theater producer…

You may recognize the actress in these two shows, Carrie Coon of Gone Girl, The Leftovers, and Fargo.

a choreographer…

Trojan Women.

an improv actor…

Reffing a show for ComedySportz TM

and performance artist…

Red Pepper Jelly 1, 2 and 3

Notice I didn’t add singer to the list?

Yes, I sang on stage from time to time, but it’s not something I put on my resume.

I worked in the theater in various capacities for about 35 years,

20 of which I was co-founder and co-artistic director…

With my Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors.

…of one of the oldest, most successful women’s theater companies in America,

Renaissance Theaterworks, Inc.

I’m enormously proud of this company’s legacy. We continue to devote our efforts to producing excellent theater while promoting the professional theater careers of women.

Declan Sinclair is a Highlander who believes his dreams never lie. When he spots Caya at a public house, he knows instantly she is the woman in his dreams—his future wife. Though her brother had promised never to gamble again, he engages Declan in a card game—and the prize is the lovely Caya.

Caya Pendarvis has no time for childish things like dreams or fairy-‐‑tales or love. She’s the sacrificial lamb on her way to the far north of Scotland to wed a wealthy merchant in exchange for settling her brother’s gambling debts.

Winning at cards is one of the many things Declan Sinclair does well. Unfortunately, the ability to court a woman—a talent he lacks—is the only skill he desperately needs to win Caya’s heart.
