This week:
Classic Spanish Sangria with Riki Cleveland from allrecipes.com
Who tried it: Riki Cleveland, Publicist
Why she likes it: Goodness knows I’m not much of a cook. (I mean, I’ve been known to burn noodles to the bottom of the pan when making a simple Kraft Mac n Cheese). However, when it comes to adult beverages, I’m pretty much a master mixologist.
Ingredients:
- 1 lemon
- 1 lime
- 1 orange
- 1 1/2 cups rum
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine
- 1 cup orange juice
Directions:
Have the fruit, rum, wine, and orange juice well chilled. Slice the lemon, lime and orange into thin rounds and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours to develop the flavors.
When ready to serve, crush the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon and stir in the wine and orange juice. Adjust sweetness to taste.
With all that extra time not spent in the kitchen, what’s Riki currently reading?
When I sat down to read MK Meredith‘s sexy new Indulgence, PLAYING THE SPANISH BILLIONAIRE, I knew I needed a beverage as decadent and delightfully Spanish as her amazing setting in Barcelona and set out to find the perfect Spanish Sangria recipe. I looked around and found this Sangria recipe from All Recipes. I made it exactly as written, only I added a splash of seltzer to give it some bubbly fizz, and then I was immediately whisked away to Spain with my cocktail and MK’s sexy billionaire. Perfection.
