Behind the Book: Seducing the Tycoon by MK Meredith

behindthebooknew

I have a long standing love affair with Italy. With traveling. With dreaming.

But the only one I’ve been able to fulfill—so far, don’t count me out yet—is the dreaming. I’ve never been able to travel beyond Canada and Hawaii, which leads to my never having been to Italy.

So, when one of my favorite characters from my book Malibu Secrets kept poking at me to write her love story, I thought what better way to live out my fantasy of going to Italy and experiencing the sensual tug of a hot sophisticated Italian hero than doing so through Chase Huntington and her family’s luxury hotel franchise.

At least until I can go and experience it all for myself! Minus the hot Italian…I already have my hero.

So I proposed an International Temptation series where I’d get to happy-ever-after in a sexy, decadent way all across Europe using the Huntington Hotel franchise as a catalyst.

First stop, Ferrara, Italy… with a sex-on-a-stick Italian named Drago De Luca who knew how to handle his biscotti.

I chose Ferrara because I’d learned about the beautiful Renaissance city through a good friend of mine who had the amazing opportunity to live there for two years with her family. Ferrara’s city center has the small town intimacy where everyone knows everyone else, but sits at the heart of a rather large town. She would share stories about how amazing the people of Ferrara were, how she and her family were pulled into the warm, welcoming bosom of the community, and how when it came time to leave…it was one of the hardest things they had to do.

It boasts cobblestone streets and centuries old buildings with a rich history and culture that keeps even the locals discovering something new every day.

What better place for Chase to find the home she’d been yearning for since she was a child than in a town that is practically a huge family?

And poor Drago. He’d been running from Ferrara, afraid he was too much like his father, when all along, home is what he needed, and what needed him.

One of my favorite character’s is Nona, Drago’s wise, sophisticated, and nurturing grandmother. She says, “…when you feel the pulse of a city in your veins that is when you know when you’re home.”

I think we’re all looking for that. Looking for the place that speaks to us so clearly, we feel it within ourselves.

Seducing the Tycoon allowed me to experience a breathtaking trip to Italy, the decadent lifestyle of the fortunate, the sexy flirtations of an Italian hero, and the emotional victory of finding home.

So remember…when you feel the pulse…you’ll know.

About the book:

International tycoon Drago De Luca has the world at his feet and he knows it. But back home in Italy, his beloved grandmother’s family inn is on the verge of closing down for good, thanks to hotshot American heiress, Chase Huntington, and her new hotel. Drago has to protect Nonna’s inn, even if it means getting close enough to Chase to convince her she needs to leave. But the more time he spends with Chase, the more he’s drawn to her passion, her love of his culture, and the way she looks in those Louis Vuitton heels.

Chase Huntington would give anything to enjoy her time with charming, sexy-as-hell Drago in the style capital of the world, but she has to make sure the new Huntington hotel opens successfully. How else can she prove she’s not just fashionista with a fortune—she’s an heiress savvy enough to take over the family’s biggest hotel back in California? But somewhere between boutiques and business plans, she falls head over Louboutins for Drago. But when Drago’s true motive for spending so much time with her comes to light, it could destroy everything Chase built and everything she thought she found in Italy.
