The publisher finalized its agreement with industry veteran Midpoint Trade Books to distribute its Entangled Books imprint beginning immediately.
The imprint, Entangled Books, adheres to the publisher’s ideals by focusing on high quality, fast-tracked titles from exciting new voices in the romance publishing market. The imprint will shift to a “digital first” approach with print distribution automatically following three months later in a powerful one-two punch.
Entangled Books will be one of the publisher’s strongest lines due to the digital first play in the marketplace. Using this model, Entangled Publishing can hold true to their philosophy of paying authors the highest royalties possible for digital sales while still providing its authors coveted shelf space in bookstores. “This approach offers an exciting option for authors who are looking for faster royalties and is a smart business alternative to self-publishing where distribution and shelf space in brick and mortar stores are nonexistent,” says publisher Liz Pelletier. “For prolific authors who already have a large platform, this is the perfect alternative to self-publishing. In addition, by shoring up print sales through initial excitement for digital releases, Entangled can take greater chances on authors with exciting new voices and outside-the-box concepts.”
Entangled Books, distributed through Midpoint Trade Books, offers authors additional review opportunities, as well. Entangled’s marketing director Misa Ramirez notes, “Several major review sites have designated submission channels for books not released simultaneously in print. These digital first editions will help build strong and devoted readerships for Entangled Books through respected reviews and early buzz.”
Entangled Books is particularly attractive for authors due to the high 40% of cover price royalty offered on third-party digital sales as well as 9% of cover price on print sales, the strongest possible rates and practically unheard of in the publishing industry. In addition, this partnership with Midpoint will move the line’s printed books from a Print-On-Demand (POD) model to warehoused books, the preferred model by book retailers.
