Playlist for The Captain’s Curse by Lisa Kessler

Hey there!

I’m Lisa Kessler and I write passionate page-turning paranormal romances! As I write, I always use playlists. The songs and music inspire me and keep me immersed in the mood and theme of the book. Writing the immortal pirate crew from the Sentinels of Savannah series gave me a chance to add nautical themes like sea chanteys and soundtracks from Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Sails.

The Captain’s Curse had the biggest playlist of the entire series coming in at 204 tracks! *boggle* So rather than give you a long list… How about some highlights?

First for the theme… This was a second chance romance with a beaten down Captain who thought the only way he could protect the woman he loved was by leaving her behind. So here are some songs that got me in the mood for heartbreak and second chances…

And then there’s the nautical feel of the series. These songs get me right back to Savannah and the wind filling the sails of the massive Sea Dog ship…

The danger and conflict in The Captain’s Curse wasn’t just about a rival immortal pirate captain, it was about the thirst for revenge and the struggle to balance it with forgiveness and redemption… So there were plenty of angry, broody, fight songs on this playlist. This one was a highlight though!

Then we had the push and pull of Flynn and Lily. His frustration and struggle to keep her away from him so he could keep her safe, and her hurt at his rejection and hesitation to allow him back into her heart. Here are some songs that put me right back into all that angst.

And once they both confessed their love, it led to one of the most romantic epilogues I’ve ever written! These were some of the tunes that filled me with all the emotions these two were churning up!

So there’s a little musical taste of The Captain’s Curse! I hope you enjoy the book and the soundtrack!

Captain Ian Flynn would die for any one of his crew…if he could. Now he might have to. Because one of the only known weapons able to kill an immortal is missing. The Spear of Destiny—a priceless religious artifact from the crucifixion—is in the hands of his ship’s ruthless ex-captain. Now the lives of the Sea Dog’s immortal pirate crew are all at risk…along with the headstrong mortal Ian never should have fallen for.

Writer Lily Bouchard isn’t sure what’s worse. That she fell for Ian Flynn only to get her heart broken, or that she romanticized the man like he was some gorgeous viking straight out of a movie. So when he shows up suddenly with some absurd tale of immortal pirates and mythical religious relics, Lily doesn’t know what to think. He’s always had a wildness beneath his well-tailored appearance…but how could any of this possibly be real?

Now a centuries-old vendetta between two pirate captains has erupted, and Ian will do anything to keep Lily safe—even if it means risking everything. But she won’t give him up without a fight.

The only thing more dangerous than killing an immortal is falling for one…
