A big congratulations goes out to Relic author, Renee Collins! Relic is on the short list for the 2013 Reading the West Book Awards. The awards are sponsored by the Mountains & Plains Relic_CoverIndependent Booksellers Association, a non-profit professional association of locally-owned bookstores, booksellers, and industry professionals. The Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association has been in existence for close to 40 years and includes booksellers in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

The Reading the West Book Awards is sponsored by MPIBA. The awards aim to celebrate authors and their books, expanding the reach and awareness amongst readers.  From the MPIBA website: “These adult and children’s titles exemplify the best in writing and/or illustrations whose subject matter is set in the region or invokes the spirit of the region: Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.”  Books are nominated by booksellers and the judging criteria is based on “Spirit of Place”, “Inspiration”, and “Quality”.

We are beyond thrilled that MPIBA has recognized Relic and Renee Collins on their 2013 short list of nominees in the Children’s (which includes YA) category. It’s an incredible honor.
