In honor of the release of Talk British to Me by Robin Bielman, we’ve got a few heroes stopping by the blog this week to offer up their own dating advice!
Brannigan here. Cord Brannigan. Former Army Ranger from The Right Ranger, Book 3 in The Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. (I had to work in that plug or else she might take it out on my buddy Vince, since she’s writing his story now. That’s another one he owes me.)
Today, Donna tasked me with giving dating advice. Why in the hell she’s asking me of all people, I’ll never know. But, since she saw fit to pair me with the woman I’ve loved for years, I figure I could do this for her.
So here goes…dating advice from Cord Brannigan:
The best piece of advice I can give you is to be truthful.
You need trust. Without it, your foundation is soft, and a relationship will sway and rock, and eventually crumble. Start off on solid ground. Don’t lie, or make up shit about yourself to try and look big. That stuff only has a way of coming back to bite you in the ass. And not in a good way.
Oh, and also, chocolate, get her chocolate. Women love it. Mine will do…uh…that’s for me to know and you to never find out. If you do, I’ll hunt you down and beat the tar out of you. Twice.
So, there you have it. Keep it truthful—that includes lies of omission, trust me on that one—and shower her with chocolate.
Hum…shower… Got to go. Need to hit the store on the way home. Good luck.

Haley Wagner’s life just got a lot more complicated. As if turning her struggling ranch around isn’t tough enough, she’s forced to call him for help. With his hard eyes and even harder body, Cord is an irritatingly sexy contradiction of hot and cold. How can she possibly hide her embarrassing secret when just looking at Cord is a combustible event?
Former Army Ranger Cord Brannigan has a secret, too. He promised his fallen teammate he’d protect the tempting, fiercely independent Haley from a distance, but now they’re stuck together for three weeks. Alone. Keeping his hands off will take every ounce of control he can muster. And that control is slipping…
Donna Michaels is an award winning, New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of Romaginative fiction. Her hot, humorous, and heartwarming stories include cowboys, men in uniform, and some sexy, primal alphas. With a husband in the military fulltime, and a household of nine, she never runs out of material to write, and has rightfully earned the nickname Lucy…and sometimes Ethel. From short to epic, her books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even being hand drawn into a Japanese translation. Now, if only she could read it.
As the Dating Guy on L.A.’s top morning show, I give the single guy’s perspective on dating, love, and sex—and I give great advice. Everyone’s hooking up…well, except for me. Sure, I can get any woman I want, but I’ve got a “no relationship” clause in my contract and the only woman I want has “relationship” written all over her. Probably stamped on her ass, too. And wouldn’t I like to confirm that.
Unfortunately, she wants nothing to do with me. At all. Something about the next Ice Age might have even come up in her rebuttal. Adorable. Because she’s determined to ignore what one simple kiss proved: she wants me as badly as I want her.
Everything in me is screaming to go after her, but I’ve got a secret that I’m fairly certain will end up with her roasting my nuts over an open fire. So, job on the line? Check. Nuts on the line? Check. Can’t get her out of my head? Nail…meet coffin. But what a way to go…
