What makes a hero sexy?

As readers of romance novels, I’m sure we’ve all seen a wide range of heroes depicted in the countless books we’ve devoured. I certainly have. So when I was sitting at my computer, staring at a blank page with the blinking cursor line daring me to type something, I was at a loss of exactly what sort of man I wanted to craft.

On the surface, dating a billionaire is a pretty fun idea. Who wouldn’t want a gorgeous Prince Charming to spirit them off to a private island in some corporate jet where you dine on Dom Pérignon and caviar? Sign me up! But when I was creating this series I didn’t want my heroes to be defined only by their wealth. What makes a man sexy? What makes us sigh over characters on a page and wish they were real? For me, the answer wasn’t about the glitz and glamour of their fabulous lifestyles. It was about their flaws.

One thing I try to bring to all my characters is some element that makes them real. Something we can all relate to. A perfect man doesn’t exist and if he did, he’d be pretty darn boring. It’s the bumps and bruises we’ve had in our lives that help define us and just because a man is fictional, doesn’t mean he’s exempt. We all have our weaknesses, our dirty little secrets, and having the right person uncover them can be as rewarding as it is revealing.

In “The Billionaire’s Bet” Caleb might be sinfully wealthy and dangerously charming but he’s also a man with a complicated past. Those cracks in his cultivated persona are what draw Hailey, the heroine, in and make her see there’s more to the man than the mask he shows the world. After all, isn’t everyone looking for someone who wants to know us inside and out?

I hope you enjoy the latest installment of my sexy billionaire’s series. Caleb is certainly a dashing rogue but for the right woman, he might be a little bit more as well.
