I think the one that sticks out the most from my college days was “Hi, I’m an astronomer. We know how to do it in the dark”. It wasn’t said to me, thank God, but to one of the girls at the local campus pub. The look she gave him said she wasn’t about to check out his telescope any time soon. It was worth the giggle.
