Lovestruck Blog Takeover, day two with Katee Robert

I have a deep and abiding love for matchmaker stories. A Midsummer Night’s Dream? Yeah, I had that on repeat for YEARS. I love how Puck is just meddling like a mofo in those poor lovers’ lives. Looking back, that was the source of quite a few of my quirks (like, say, my everlasting love of Stanley Tucci). You could argue that MEETING HIS MATCH started in that movie theater back in 1999.

Side note—holy crap, it’s seriously been 15 years since that movie came out?!

Ahem. Back to the story. I was in love with the idea of a meddling matchmaker, so when the time came to give my hero a match, I knew hands down it had to be a matchmaker. He’s such a growly, stubborn male, so his heroine had to be able to go toe-to-toe with him.

Which is how Addison came into being. She’s sweet as apple pie…right up until it comes time to steamroll an equally stubborn male into doing what she’s sure is best for him. And, to make my little author heart happy, I made her meddlesome.

She decides right off the bat that he needs hands on treatment, and jumps straight into making him more approachable. She basically takes over his life and hilarity ensues.

And I can trace her personality and willingness to meddle right back to Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

What about you? What’s your favorite matchmaking movie?

  • I am sitting here scratching my chin trying to think of one and I am sooo stumped. While movies might not be my strong suit I HAVE been a match-maker IRL to two of my awesome fellow nerds and I love seeing pics of their kids and knowing that *I* had a hand in bringing their mom and dad together. Who doesn’t love giving someone they care about a nudge like that?

I honestly think MEETING HIS MATCH should have been called MEETING her MATCH now that I’ve read it. 😉 😉
