Home for the Holidays: Hope’s Super Simple Hot Buttered Bourbon with Hope Tarr

Baking, decorating, family…all the things that fill the holidays with joy. Join our Entangled authors as they share a little something special from their home during the holidays.

Ah, the winter holidays. Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Candy canes. All spice. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin…everything.

Alas, Cynthia Starr Starling—Starr—the heroine of A CINDERELLA CHRISTMAS CAROL, is totally “Bah, Humbug” when it comes to all things culinary, hence her Christmas Eve meal of Chinese takeout. (Attention Foodies: Stephanie, the Greek-American heroine of A CINDERELLA SEDUCTION is a curvy, full-figured personal chef whose baklava isn’t all that’s to die for).

What Starr can, and does, appreciate is a carefully crafted cocktail, something we two have in common, along with our Irish ancestry. Check out my recipe for Hot Buttered Bourbon (rum, phooey), and please download your complimentary (F-R-E-E) e-book copy of A Cinderella Christmas Carol starting November 27th.

Wishing you a holiday season brimming with fairytale dreams come true!

Hope’s Super Simple Hot Buttered Bourbon (serves one)

  • 2 ounces Bourbon – Maker’s Mark, Blanton’s or your favorite small batch spirit
  • 1 pat of butter – I’m a fan of Kerry Gold
  • 1 generous teaspoon raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Hot water, boiled
  • Cinnamon stick (optional)
  • Hot Man (also optional but highly recommended (in which case, double recipe)

Add butter, honey, and brown sugar to an Irish coffee style glass mug. Pour in the bourbon. Beat mixture with a fork. Fill mug with the hot water and stir well until the ingredients are dissolved. Add cinnamon stick as garnish. Put on your favorite Christmas Classic—Nat King Cole’s iconic Christmas Song is my go-to—a comfy holiday sweater (ugliness optional), and curl up with A CINDERELLA CHRISTMAS CAROL.
