Blood Money is the sequel to Burnout, my very first published novel—an exciting moment, to be sure! Ironically, Burnout was initially a stand-alone book with no series in mind. But when a multi-book contract came a calling I adapted, and with the quick stroke of a pen a contract was signed and the NYPD Blue & Gold Series was born. Along with the urgent need for new heroes and heroines!

Cassie Yates, the heroine of Burnout, has an older brother, Gray, who is an NYPD detective. Naturally, Gray came to mind as the hero of Blood Money. He’s a handsome, hunky Alpha male who doesn’t love easily but when he does, he’s all in and not even the Pyramid—an international organization of assassins—will stand between him and the woman he’s falling in love with. Which brings me to the heroine of Blood Money—Alex Romano.

Making every novel in a series substantially different from the others takes imagination and extra effort, but it’s well worth it. I mean, who doesn’t get bored reading a series in which the heroes and heroines are all pretty much cut from the same cookie cutter? So in creating Alex, I strived to make her very different from Cassie. Alex isn’t a cop and she doesn’t carry a badge or a gun, yet she is intellectually strong and every bit as ass-kicking in her own way—a total match for Gray.

I sincerely hope you like Blood Money and for those who keep asking… Yes, Detective Dominick Carew is the hero of Book 3, due for release later this year. So stay tuned!
