Straight Talk with Gina Gordon

When you are getting ready to start a new book, what’s the first thing you do?

Plot. And plot. Then plot some more. I like to know where I’m going.  Some people think it’s pointless to write a book when you already know the ending. But sometimes, the ending of a book is the first thing that comes to me.

Have you had any fun fan moments since you became a writer?

I recently had an event on Facebook with a couple of my fellow Brazen authors and I was shocked and so excited at the number of people that I didn’t know who had read my book. It sort of put it all into perspective.

If you could have dinner, coffee, or drinks with a fictional character, who would you choose and where would you go?

How about a super-secret affair? LOL It would definitely be with Tony Martinez from Lori Armstrong’s Julie Collins series. El Presidente bad-boy biker. He’s my all-time favorite romance hero.

Who would play your hero/heroine in the tv or film version of your book?

If Recipe for Satisfaction was turned into a movie, Adam Levine would play Jack Vaughn and Ginnifer Goodwin would play Sterling.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

Keep writing. Bad reviews and rejections come with the territory. Just keep writing. And when all else fails….

Who are your favorite authors? What authors have influenced your book?

My favorite authors are Lorelei James (aka Lori Armstrong), Jill Shalvis and Bella Andre.  It’s hard to say if they’ve influenced me. I definitely strive to write as brilliantly as they do.

Where does the magic happen?  Where do you write?

When I’m at home, I have an office, my own private room with my bookshelves and all my favorite things. I also have a café three minutes from my house that I visit quite often. For some reason, I have great concentration and focus when I’m there.

Do you prefer print books or eBooks?

Although I do have an ereader and I love it, I still love print books best. And even though an ereader is so convenient, in my eyes they will never be a replacement for print books. Just another option.

What’s in the works for you?

Stay tuned for three more Brazen books! Of course the rest of the Madewood brothers need to find their happily ever afters. And I have a contemporary single title, A Taste of Trouble, coming out in February.

Already a major success thanks to his exclusive restaurants, Jack Vaughn is looking for something more. Ultra responsible Sterling is unlike anyone Jack has met…but she’s his employee.
