Adam frowned, realizing that she probably hadn’t had more than a couple of hours’ sleep. It was around three a.m. now. He set his cup on the floor, settled behind her, and placed his hands on her shoulders.
She flinched. “What are you doing?”
“Rubbing your shoulders. Relax, Megan. I’m just thanking you for saving my dog.” He began kneading, feeling her velvety soft skin over knotted muscles. He worked her upper arms and shoulders, then moved to her neck and the space between her shoulder blades. Using his thumbs, he stroked up and down, pressing and rubbing.
She bent her head forward and groaned.
“Feel good?”
“Mm.”
That sounded like a sexy purr, vibrating right through him and straight to his groin. Her sweet pear scent filled his lungs and made him long to taste her. The pale skin of her shoulders and arms had just a hint of sun-kissed color and a light dusting of freckles. He resisted the temptation to brush his lips over the nape of her neck. Instead he said, “Thank you, Meg. I know I dragged you out of bed, and you won’t get much more sleep tonight.”
“I’d do it for any of my patients, Adam.”
It stung as he realized that he wanted to be more special to her. He shifted, stretching his legs out on either side of her. Then he leaned against the table and tugged her back to his chest. Before she could protest, he said, “See if you can sleep. I’ll keep an eye on Ellie and wake you if she needs anything.”
She looked over her shoulder at him. “This isn’t a good idea.”
He brushed a stray strand of hair from her face. “You’ve slept in my arms before.”
“That was a long time ago, Adam. Another lifetime.”
He stared at her, couldn’t look away. For a second, he wished things could be different, that they could build a life together, but Adam knew better and locked down that desire. That was how he functioned. He would not burden another with his private hell. He would never be able to bear her looking at him with the same hatred or disgust as his own mother had.
Adam forced a gentleness over his rough emotions. “I just intend to hold you so you can sleep.”
She twisted around so she could see him and let her eyes roam over his face, as if she were trying to see into his very soul. “What about you? Aren’t you tired? You could go home and I’ll call you when she’s out of danger.”
“I don’t sleep much.” He never talked about his nightmares and insomnia to anyone. Recovering, he added another reason. “And there’s no way in hell I’m leaving you here alone.”
Her eyebrows drew together. “I’m here alone at least once a month dealing with an emergency. Actually, I usually bring Max. He’s pretty good protection.”
“Smart.” He wrapped his arms around her, enjoying the feel of her against him. “But you didn’t bring him tonight. You knew you’d be safe with me.” He liked that. A lot.
She put her hand on his arm. “Why don’t you sleep, Adam?”
He had a big mouth. What was it about Megan that reached through his defenses? “All the travel in the military has messed up my sleep patterns.”
She was silent, rubbing her thumb back and forth on his wrist. “You wanted to travel, wanted to be a hero. Did it turn out the way you thought?”
Caught by surprise, he leaned his head back and thought about it. “I wanted to make more of a difference, but no matter what my team achieved, it was never enough. If we eliminated one threat, six more took its place.” And good men died horrible deaths.

I love the Baby Bargain because I am sucker for books with kids, military men, and a wonderful simple storyline. The Baby Bargain has all the elements of a great story.
I love the whole military man, emotionally damaged hero and heroine. The danger that brings them closer together and how they get past their issues to get their happy family in the end.

I loved reading this book.
Top three reasons I loved this book:
1. A strong female character who would protect her son over anything else.
2. A strong male character who overcomes his “demons” to do what’s right.
3. Furry friends who are the catalyst for great love story.
My top three reasons for loving this book A) It dealt with real time issues! B) I know and have known Veterans with PTSD. C) This author not only wrote about servicemen, she drew me into the story and kept me there after I was done!
First off, it’s written by Jennifer Lyon.
Second, military men are hot.
Third, it’s a great, great love story.

1. It has a military guy in y and you can never go wrong with that.
2. She has hidden his son from him which is going to cause some crazy friction and issues that I can’t wait to read about.
3. What is not to love about Jennifer. She is one of the few auto-buy authors I have. I have loved everything she has written so I know The Baby Bargain won’t be any different.

This book has been in my TBR list since it was released! Reading this excerpt just pushed it a little closer to beiing read now instead of later, which is just fine by me. There are so many Entangled books being released that need to be read that it is difficult to decide which one to read first.
This one inched ajhead in line for a few few reasons.
Love the strong, yet sensitive Alpha male hero as reason number one. Number two would be the addition of a child to the book – always makes the mood softer. And number three would be the the separation keeping them apart, HEA or not?
This book sounds amazing!! Megan and Adam both sound like interesting characters I definitely want to get to know. I am dying to know about their past and what happened in between then and now. This is definitely on my TBR list.

I loved this book because it was the perfect blend of a tortured hero, a loving woman, and a child who loves his parents. The tortured hero is a military man who faces a past in which he did, or didn’t do something and tries to make up for it now, and the woman he loves has his child. The loving woman will do anything to protect her child, and needs the hero to help, giving her love back to him over and over again in ways some might not understand. Lastly, a child who loves his parents even at his young age. Children need thier parents, no matter if thier biological, foster, or what, they need to know that they are loved, just like the child in this book is. No matter what happens he knows that his mother and fatehr love him.
I love military men, hot romances and happy endings. This book had all three!
Babies, military men, strong heroines, pets, coastal living, hot, hot, hot romances, happy endings… There are too many things about this book to like only three 🙂

Deals with everyday issues in our lives and shows how two people overcome these.
Lastly, it has fur babies (I love animals, have four dogs and two cats and they all get love and treated as my babies).

Military men, babies, a strong heroine, and pets.
I love a tortured hero and Adam certainly fits the bill! My favorite scene of the entire book is when Meg tells Adam about Cole and he tells her she isn’t the person he thought she was, it had me in tears- feeling their love and pain. I love the secondary characters! I can’t wait to read more about Sienna, Logan and Cooper sounds super interesting to me as well. Jennifer is now one of my authors to stalk! After reading this book and the The Proposition I am hooked!
